Title or Location: Old Railway Bridge between Pill and Portishead (Marsh Lane Bridge)
The line between Portishead and Pill was closed in the 1960s but the track remained because for 20 years or so it was used for freight. Although there was hope of reopening it the new labour government cancelled the funding.Alongside the track is a footpath linking Pill and Portishead. It takes a bit longer to walk than it would have by train!I painted this after my walk - I felt there was hope here that in the future trains again would grace the rusting track.

'BRISTOL FASHION' by Bristol born Artist SUSAN HARTRY, is a 28x38cm Watercolour painting on Saunders Waterford 300g Not Paper, using Professional Artist watercolour paints. Always with camera in hand, the reference photo was taken whilst walking along the Harbourside of Bristol's Floating Docks on a lovely sunny afternoon - frequently stopping to sit a while to admire the view, watch the comings and goings of pleasure boats, and spot changes from memories of days gone by. Once a busy tida

I painted a wash of greys and a little brown. I used my brush to outline the elephant with negative painting. I used a stencil and watercolour pencil sanded over it to make the bush areas. Starting at the eyes helps with measuring the position of other parts of the elephant.
